The participants of “Ust-Luga Cup” regatta which (the regatta, i.e.) started five days ago in Tallinn, are facing the last leg today. Kotka-Kronstadt race promises to be demanding: according to the weather forecast, the downwind that has worked to the favour of yachtsmen in the last days, has changed to upwind from the East since morning. Closer to night the regatta’s fleet will enter the storm zone with the wind elevating up to 30-40 knots.

Even now, before the last leg’s finish, it has become apparent that the Challenge Cup of “Ust-Luga Cup” regatta will leave Russia for the first time in the race’s history. In accordance with the Notice of Race, the best Group I team is awarded the Challenge Cup. Two first place candidates’ standing as of today: Estonian team of Eesti Raudtee and Dutch one of Damen. It will be them that will rival for the main trophy.

The faith of the rest of awards (both within Group I and Group II) depends on race’s results. Any team of first five could end up on the Stand of Honour. Besides above mentioned Estonians and Dutch, these are: Russian Railways (“Loko”), Anchor Logistic/Ultramar (“Premium”), Ust-Luga Co (“Korushka”). There is a similar situation in Group II: four teams could reach for the awards, although the golden medal will most likely go to either Boskalis (“Victoria”) or PUL trans (“Solitaire”) or Murmansk Commercial Sea Port (“Gloria”).
